Project Description

The Munich Sports Campus project presented a particular challenge due to its pilot nature within the city and the late start to the planning phase.

The façade design had to be developed in parallel by two design teams, or rather two firms, within a very tight timeframe.

The tasks were divided according to façade materials: one team worked on the metal and mullion-transom façade, whilst the second team – under my leadership – took charge of the timber structure, green facade system, and wooden external walls

Technical Solution

A clear modular façade structure was developed to meet the requirements for fire safety and rapid installation.

The use of timber cladding in combination with OSB boards enabled compliance with fire safety requirements whilst ensuring cost-effective execution.

The modules were structurally designed and subdivided in such a way as to allow for efficient prefabrication and installation, whilst simultaneously forming the structural basis for the mullion-transom façade to be installed subsequently.

Another component of the solution was the integration of a green façade. To this end, designated areas for suspended planting systems and a metal substructure between the storeys were provided.

Provided Tasks
