Project Description
As part of the refurbishment of an existing commercial building, a new façade structure was developed, comprising individual window and design elements that blend harmoniously into the existing architecture.
Besondere Anforderungen ergaben sich im Bereich der großformatigen Panoramafenster im ersten Obergeschoss, die für die Gewerbenutzung eine zentrale gestalterische und konstruktive Rolle spielen.
Technical Solution
The window structure is supported by cantilevered steel profiles that transfer the loads into the existing reinforced concrete structure.
The large-format windows on the first floor protrude from the façade plane, thereby creating a structural situation in which rainwater from the floors above is channelled onto these areas.
This led to specific requirements regarding the design of the upper connection details and the safe drainage of rainwater in the façade area.
Provided Tasks
- Development of structural details for façade drainage at the top of the panoramic windows with integrated drainage canal
- Thermal analysis of the connection areas (isotherm distribution) to prevent condensation
- Optimisation of the thermal performance of the façade connections
- Conducting thermal simulations using WinIso (Sommer Informatik)
